Irasburg House | 1855 Farmhouse l Fully Restored with 5 Bedrooms - Family and Pet Friendly

5 Bedroom House in Irasburg

Originally built in 1855, this beautiful farmhouse was fully restored in 2013. This 12 room house has 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, and is located in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Whether visiting Vermont to get away and relax in the country, or to take part in some of the plentiful outdoor activities that it offers, this home will make for a perfect vacation for you and your family.
With the VAST snowmobile trail system easily accessible from the property and both Jay Peak and Burke Mountain about 20 miles away, this house is the perfect destination for winter enthusiasts. Jay Peak’s indoor water park is also open year round for those who would like a break from winter activities.
Winter is not the only season full of fun and adventurous activities in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. The summer season brings activities like hiking and mountain biking, as well as kayaking, fishing, swimming, and golfing. Hike some of the numerous and beautiful nearby mountains, or bike the Kingdom Trails system in the Burke area. Kayak, fish, or swim in Lake Memphremagog, Crystal Lake, or Lake Willoughby. All are nearby. You can also fish the Black River from the back yard.
Not far away, Jay Peak Resort is home to an 18-hole championship golf course, in addition to an ice arena, tram rides, and as previously mentioned, an indoor waterpark.
There are many restaurants nearby, and the house is just a short distance from the Newport area, which has anything one could need. The house is also on a well-traveled road just 5 miles from I-91, so roads are well taken care of in the winter. It is just over 3 hours from Boston, under 6 hours from New York City, and 2 hours from Montreal.

Summary: This is a beautiful country house which must have been one of the largest homes in the area to have been built at that time. Would love to know more about the history of the home. Thank you for leaving the Christmas tree up for us. Our home is too small to have one so this was a treat for the family. We loved the well-appointed kitchen which had everything that we needed. The refrigerator and freezer were very roomy. The mud room behind the kitchen was very conveniently located. It was great to be able to juggle kitchen and laundry duties in areas so close to one another. What a great design! We were also pleased to find a dog rope toy as we had forgotten to pack one ourselves, which helped our younger down to settle down on the first day.The bedrooms were beautifully appointed. Especially appreciated the bedroom upstairs which had two beds, which is perfect for my parents who like to be in the same room, but not in the same bed. The bedroom downstairs were connect to one another were perfect for our two boys who normally share a room. This gave them privacy while being reassuringly close to one another. As with most older homes, the hot water in the bathroom upstairs could have been hotter. An additional heating element in that bathroom would have also been appreciated for cold winter days. Overall, this was a very comfortable stay.

Summary: The property had lots of space for sleeping. The pictures are reflective of the actual space. The house is quite old and shows its age. The furnace can loud when it runs as there are ventilation that runs up between the main floor bedrooms. Outside was quite lovely with a river near by and snowmobile trail.

Summary: We had a wonderful stay here! The propery is well maintained and spacious. We loved walking to the brook in the morning (the mist above the water with the reflection of the foliage was beautiful)- and there were many trails to investigate! The bedroom was cozy and the den was comfortable. Our dog Harlie loved the house- and the back yard- and the walks. Thanks for a great stay!

Summary: We went to play Newport CC and have a weekend with my two children and their spouses. We also had our 6 month old grandson. The house was set up perfectly as one bedroom had a smaller room connected to it. Perfect for the baby portable crib. The house is a very quick drive from Newport activities. Great weekend. Plenty of space in house.

Summary: Very clean home. Perfect location for viewing the 2024 eclipse. We've been to the Northern part of Vermont before but not the Irasburg area. It's very quiet and peaceful. The home is a lovely restored farm house with plenty of room for 8 in our family gathering age range 18-84. We had a great time. Had a check in snafu that was our fault due to the way the vrbo app displays info but resolved quickly. Hope we didn't bother the hosts ;-)
